Oh my! What a week that was. I learned the other night that in Discussionist we are referred to as BOGscum. When you google the word, you get RW sites, not surprising. Yet not all that different than how we are referred to here on DU.

I have watched Obama being trashed and many comments being hidden by what seems to be alert stalking. The majority of hides that I have seen are members of AA. There seems to be some people here that want all of us to sit down and shut up.

One of my threads was alerted on and bravenak had most of her posts alerted on for speaking her mind on issues that concern her and got 2 hides for her efforts.

We like this President and some here just can't stand that fact. They accuse us of being blind followers that walk in lock step. We are called Obamabots, we are stupid, brain dead followers with nary a thought in our heads. Wow, that sort of describes what the GOP thinks of women.

None of us has ever said that he was perfect. Yet he is a damn good President, the best in my book. You know why? He has continued to move us forward with strength and determination.

I for one will not sit down or shut up nor will I be told that I can not post in GD.

After he has replaced the bad of the bad presidents I would think he would not be able to handle the praise. Unfortunately many just don't get facts, he has prevented this nation from attacking in Syria, Iran and Ukraine. He has ended a useless Bush barged into without an exit strategy and is now working us out of Afghanistan. He chased down bin Laden and has taken care or others who wants to harm the US.

He fought and clawed us to ACA and though it may not be perfect (should not have followed the Romney plan though I know why) it is a vast improvement over the nothing we had.

7. I'm happy when I wake up in the morning and know

that President Obama is in the White House. I find myself bored with the news these days; unlike the * days when I was so terrified every day that I HAD to follow the news.

I'm so surprised at the hatred leveled at democratic candidates and our president here on DU. I wonder if the Virgin Mary would get the same treatment as Hillary gets or if Jesus would be excoriated in the same way as our president. I don't know if there is some new chemical in the water that has deranged normal humans to hate all democratic candidates and the sitting president, but they sure do have a hate on.

Yes, Hillary will definitely get trashed here. It's already happening. Well surprise surprise she is a woman after all and women are respected here the same way Obama is. However there is a great core of people here, they are why I stay. I'll tell you this, we are somedays able to shout them down. Not always, yet we have a voice that is getting stronger everyday.

he's done better than I expected, in 08 I figured the next president was either going to be black or female and the rightwing loons would go batshit crazy. I voted for Hillary in my primary but it was a difficult vote for me because of her Iraq vote, the only reservation I had about Obama was I didn't think he had enough experience to handle the gop. I thought he had plenty of experience to be president so I didn't hesitate a minute to help campaign for him because I'm not insane I did vote for him. In retrospect, I think Obama handled the gop just fine, I don't get the anger that he should have stood up to them, what makes people think he hasn't stood up against the rightwing loons? He's a cool guy, he's not going to yell and carry on like a rabid badger. He got stuff done inspite of the worst treatment of a president I've ever seen.
And not that this makes any difference at all but I adore Michelle Obama, I think she is a terrific 1st lady.

president obama gave the gop 5 years to work with him...so he is being the true trailblazer he is and finding ways to enact laws by executive order that truly move the country forward on issues of social and economic justice despite the clown poo poo slung at him. there is so much more to be done and he knows it - yet it does not stop him from doing what he can.

so glad we can come here for some group hugs and to express how we have his back. i hope he has a place he can go to recharge, too.

50. I'm not sure whether 'Discussionist' (what a tortured term) will be helpful or not;

it might drain the swamp a little elsewhere. I've already just about decided not to re-up for DU next year, at least not as a paid member. I'd miss the BOG and the Catholic group too much. But I'm starting to have my doubts about financially supporting the rest of DU because SO MUCH IS A CESSPOOL.
