Keeping His Promises to the Poor and Vulnerable: Thank You, President Obama!http://www.democraticunderground.com/11028481
Relaying the story of a woman with cancer in this video was fitting since he lost his own mother to that disease, and wanted better for other women:
"I remember my mother."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/110219099
Obama also mentioned Planned Parenthood, to which he has been a firm supporter against the stunts of Rand Paul, the most vocal on cutting funding and trying to force personhood bills on the nation as a whole.
It is for good reason Obama is called the First Feminist President:
The First Feminist President, Barack Obama
http://www.democraticunderground.com/110212801
Speaking for America in the video:
"In the end, history is not kind to those who deny Americans basic economic security. Nobody remembers well those who stand in the way of America's progress or our people. That's what the Affordable Care Act represents."
That is the change we hoped for and received. Single payer is in the ACA for 2017, to which he alludes by referring to simplifying in the speech. We are moving ahead. I won't go into the numerous talks I am having with all kinds of health providers and patients, and those who work to keep safe the poor, elderly and disabled, who have been breathing and sleeping better since the ACA passed.
And his comments about medical bankruptcies and losing one's home, I can witness to that humiliation, and the feeling being valued as an equal human being again when needed healthcare is no longer in jeopardy from circumstances beyond one's control. When one has lost, and lost big time despite paying for health insurance and 'doing all the right things,' lost to the schemes the for-profits have foisted on us for so long, I know Obama's heart is with the people of this country.
One of the first signs of being kicked out of the middle class is to lose insurance and be unable to pay for that which so many take for granted. A person who has major health issues will be economically disadvantaged in all ways, and the GOP is intent on impoverishing people by obstructing their care. Those who have never been tested in that way, may never need to get a plan through the ACA, but their lives will still be better too.

Yeah, Obamacare isn't perfect but what do you think of it and its potential compared to what the sociopaths have to offer?
And, of course, that's not directed at you, fresh

(68,644 posts)Not to jinx it with optimism, but there could be a whole lot of turnover in the house and senate.
I'm thinking Mitch McConnell will be put out to pasture, for example.
