(87,490 posts)A party so hateful and blind that they would deny a healthy life to their fellow Americans.

(30,058 posts)Pulling levers for the GOP. If I knew many of the people they are trying to prevent from getting health insurance and needs the services so they can live longer and continue to vote for the GOP may have their lives shortened early and votes will be lost for the GOP? It is sad.

(449 posts)I admire the fact that some nations have at least reasonable conservative parties. They make a rational left-right discourse work.
America is not one of them. The GOP is a right wing extremist group, plain and simple. Their opposition is unprincipled and mindless at times, and only forwards a kleptocratic agenda. It's reprehensible.

(82,383 posts)I visited a friend in Australia who is for the Liberals there, Abbott and such, hated Julia Gillard. But she said she thought that if she lived in America, she'd be a Democrat. Conservatives in other countries are just conservative, not completely nuts. The Tea Party is an embarrassment!

(84,319 posts)Glad you're here! I love this quote. And it just happens to be true. It's really difficult for me to try to wrap my brain around the idea of a whole party dedicated to the proposition that the poor and needy in this country can't be helped, won't be helped, and worst of all - shouldn't be helped. Honestly, W.T. F.??????? And we call ourselves a "Christian" nation???? I know the folks on that team certainly do. They walk around wearing the Bible like a kid wearing a big cardboard box painted up to look like a milk carton and held up by shoulder straps, for the school's Halloween parade. What the hell?????
Wonder what "Jesus" that is - that they're worshipping these days?

(53,061 posts)I told her years ago that on 1/1/14 we would finally get it.
Last year when they shut down the govenment (which collapsed our business) I exlained that the reason was that they wanted to take away our health care plan.
When our cards came on Monday I gave her hers and told her "keep it away from Republicans".
She spent all day NYD calling Thai friends around the country giving out the phone number (you can talk to a Thai speaker) so that they can get insurance, most will qualify for Medicaid, Many have Republican husbands and she told them to get it without tippping off their husbands.
For the first time Mrs grantcart understands Republican policy.
She doesn't, however, understand why.
All I could tell her is that the President is Black.

(1,408 posts)As always.
I, on the other hand don't have to be.
What it should read is;
"The only unifying principle in the Republican Party at the moment, and it has been since he was elected, is that they can't stand his black ass sitting in, what they consider a white man's chair, IN THEIR WHITE HOUSE!"
Their words and deeds are the proof.
I can't believe the President's patience.
But it is pretty cool the way he handles their bigotry, idiocy and hate by consistently making them look the fools that they are.
While the rethugs have hated spending resources on the poor, sick, elderly, disabled and otherwise disenfranchised people for years, his election as President brought everybody's bigotry and hate out into the open.
While that's a good thing...
I still don't have to be nice to the buttfaces.
