I am so thankful...

It has been a hard year, I came so close to losing someone in my family that I adore. Yet they pulled through. It took months, yet they are with us. For that I am blessed.

We have all had a whirlwind year, with the government shutdown and threat of lost benefits. So many left adrift not knowing what their future would hold. The fear the panic and sense of hopelessness clutched our very souls.

Games. The GOP loves to play games at the peoples expense. They strut and snicker and wreck havoc on our lives.

Yet through it all we are still winning. They thwart us at every corner yet we move forward, not as fast as we wished, yet we continue in a straight line. We have our eyes focused on our future. We see it, we can feel it and yes we can taste it.

Our President has given us so much to be thankful for, a healthcare system that is working. One that will benefit millions. Is it perfect? No. Yet it will get better and stronger everyday. Peace, or a great chance for it, he has given us that too. He leads us toward a kinder and gentler world. It is a start. A start, a fresh start after so many black years.

Bottom line, it is about Trust.

For that I am Thankful.

“And, in the end
The love you take
is equal to the love you make.”

― Paul McCartney, The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics

In the end, I am thankful. To my family and my friends for all the love and support that they have given me. I hope that I have returned it in kind.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all, the BOG and all of DU~

I am very thankful that we have a President who believes in peace, equality, affordable health care and women's rights. Perfect? No, but much preferable to the alternatives. And yes, we are winning!

Through it all, President Obama has been focused like a laser on solving the country's problems, with or without the help of the Republicans in Congress.

And if it would not have been for you and Cha, I probably would have left the DU forum quite awhile ago.
It's sort of odd that so many other people can't see the world in the positive way you two do.

My family just left, I pulled it off in the smallest kitchen you ever saw. We all worked together, that is what it is about. I love my family and am blessed that almost all of us got together.

Happy Thanksgiving~

for in our lives and for our Country. And, it's because we keep working all the time to make it so, no matter how overwhelming the challenge.

And, yes, just as in 2008 and every year since I am truly grateful for Obama being President..

Happy Thanksgiving, she~

I am thankful for your words, thankful for you and all the other DUers who support and appreciate our President, and thankful for BOG. What a refuge for my weary soul!

Thanksgiving blessings to each and every one of you. May the remainder of this year be filled with peace and safety.

Since I couldn't read everything worthwhile in the whole world if I lived a million years, I've had to try reining in that wish. Even Daily Kos, which I love, tries to lure me away with the promise of an even larger potential audience than elsewhere; but I found my online home here, and it's been largely due to the BOG and one other group. So I'm grateful for that, some days more than you'd want to know. The proof of that pudding? I'm prone to listen to the good advice here. At times it might look as if I've got a head like a rock, but I'm not totally deaf.

BTW, even though everyone did their best to keep out of political talks/arguments at St. Lukes' community Thanksgiving Dinner today, a few people in private (and later in public when the social hall was so loud that table talk was the same as) said very nice things about the President and Dems in general. I had the extreme privilege of answering a question from the very elderly couple seated next to me. They wanted to know if they had to wait on everyone else to sign up for ACA before the policy they wanted could activate. I imagine they're on some form of Medicare and/or Medicaid, but apparently they've had choices to make and were concerned about implementation.

Since this was not the time or place to dig for details, but I wanted to offer them accurate reassurance, I only said be sure you've done more than just register an account; if you've chosen a plan and signed up for it, then you don't need to worry about slowpokes holding you back. I wasn't about to get more specific for many reasons, but that seemed to be all they were concerned about.
