Barack goes Hollywood!

President Obama paid a call to Glendale this afternoon and bumped into Steve Martin at Dreamworks before giving a fundraising speech:

Entering the studio for his tour, Obama extended a hand to Martin, who informed him he had a slight cold. So the commander in chief and the once wild-and-crazy guy bumped elbows instead.

"How's the banjo playing?" Obama asked

"Better than ever," Martin replied.

Obama mentioned that Martin had played the banjo at the White House.

"The fact that I played banjo at the White House was the biggest thrill (pause) of his life," Martin cracked.

"That's how I felt," Obama deadpanned. "Biggest thrill of my life. Inauguration? Nothing."

Here's the speech which is pretty funny and raised 2.1 million for local races!

President Obama bumps arms with actor Steve Martin, as actor actor Jim Parsons watches at right, during the president’s tour of the Recording studio at DreamWorks Studios in Glendale. The actors where rehearsing for the upcoming animated movie ‘Home’. Martin didn’t shake hands because he said he had a cold and didn’t want to make Obama sick

Just a few quotes I jotted down..

Movies are important part of our "economic engines"

I do think of the Infrastructure behind the movies.. "Part of our American Diplomacy.."

"And, yes we decided to fix the broken health care system.. dead pan. while bringing down the deficit. fastest since world world war II'
Boom!

"We would be a lot further a long.. if we didn't have one wing of one party."

"gop house agenda 2014.. BLANK"

"Kentucky"!!

Quoting Roger Ebert..

"kindness covers all my political beliefs".. empathy. Roger Ebert!
A big thank you to Jeffrey Katzenberg for being with Obama from the beginning!

But seriously I think he's more likely to be heading your way when he's finished with his term. Heck I sure would too!

is done in D.C. and take their usual vacays at Christmas time over here on the Islands. He's still such a relative young man and so much energy. Too sad thinking about the White House without the Obamas..

Loved PBO's talk to the Dreamworks people, ucr.. thank you again!

Mahalo~ You have a great Thanksgiving with your family and friends, ucr.

I'm worse than any kid waiting for Christmas. So far I've managed to lose the pounds I wanted in order to prepare for Thanksgiving (twice, once at St. Luke's and once at the UMC) and Christmas dinners. That way I can eat all I want while it's there, then leave and behave a little better the rest of the year.

Don't want to rain on any parades, especially my own, but here's a medical factoid I just learned yesterday on Oz: the first 2 hours after a really big meal are the most likely to bring on a heart attack, so be alert for the least symptoms. And stop eating before you keel over - hard to do! I hope I've broken its stranglehold but I'll always love, love, love food.
