For the BOG - Do we have an awesome president or what? Check in if you agree.

Cruz is giving his BS speech now. Looks as though we have a deal now. We got to wait for the Senate to vote and then the house and the Government will open back up. President Obama stood his ground and did not cave. I am so happy for my President. We really should be grateful. Now we need to make the Republican party pay for these 16 days of pain.

Whose with me?

Love your profile story, BTW.

I'm a British-Isles mix; don't hate me because I have some English. It's mostly Welsh, with some Irish, Scottish & French.

When people ask, I just say: "I'm a Celt."

In fact, I'll tell you an awful secret if you promise to keep it confidential. Really I can hardly hate anyone. Even when it's a rotten dangerous scumbag, I'm just not that good at it. What I do have the most implacable hate for is the evil they do, the waste they make of their own lives and others'. If they were to turn from those ways, as happens once in a very blue moon, I'd have to accept them. Trouble is, the world is over run with sociopaths, and you know how often they change.

As far as the Celtic thing goes, I have no beef against the English in general. As someone else said, it's the vile notion of royalty and serfs that I'm duty bound to hate. And that most odious system prevails in one form or another around the world, throughout millenia, and will never be fully eradicated. We are simply duty bound to hunt it down and beat it to a pulp, then stomp it for bleeding whenever we can. I also am deeply aware that some of the most ardent supporters of complete Irish independence and unity are our friends next door. High principles know no national boundary.

And my anger's not fake at all. It's just directed more at the person's behavior. Absolutely if given the chance, I'd throw half the GOP under the jail and imprison the other half for life on treason and sedition charges. In short, anything appropriate to pull their teeth. I won't clasp a snake to my bosom, and I know a snake when I see one.

But that's my notion of tough love, not hate. Do you leave a sociopath loose to run amuk? No, it wouldn't even be in his best interests. Hate is when you are hellbent on total and utter destruction of another living entity, with as much grief and horror as you can visit upon him beforehand.

Case in point: I'm not even sure I hated my ex-husband, horrible as he was. But when he came home from a trip I knew he'd taken with a 'business associate', I met him at the door and said keep out, I'll pack your clothes for you and you can pick them up in the morning. By nightfall inspiration struck. I hauled everything out into the dirt driveway (boonies, realize) in a big pile and lit it on fire. Then I settled down in a lawn chair and sipped a beer, enjoying the flames. The volunteer firemen showed up and I passed around the rest of the six-pack. We had a good time toasting the embers, and then they went on their merry way. It's one of my fondest memories.

When Ex showed up the next morning, he hefted the suitcase and suspected foul play. When he opened it on the spot, all it contained was the ashes from the previous night's Burning Man party. I started laughing so hard I almost fell over; almost 30 years later, the memory still brings on a warm glow.

I shudder to think what I might've done if I'd truly hated the man.

nearest GOP ankle to bite.

A particularly evil and dangerous thought just entered my head. I really should dress in my finest Democratic wear and march around the town square with a big "I LOVE OBAMACARE" sign. What do you think? I'm old enough now that people really should be ashamed of themselves for throwing rocks at me. (No kidding, they have thrown a few beer bottles.)

........No, maybe I should stick with my saintliest smirk instead. But I think I will live in Dem-wear for the next week or so and take a few leisurely strolls around the block. They owe me that much. But I won't write another letter to the paper. It would be a little too over the top even for YT. I slapped the GOP silly enough with the last letter.

But especially to President Barack Hussein Obama. Go, team!

(I'm sure Michelle won't mind this, coming as it does from a harmless little old lady.) But lordy, how I do love a good Democrat! Nothing much finer in this world to me. They're more precious than all the silver and gold in the universe.

I ought to send a lump of coal to all the GOP, don'tcha think? Round about December?

'scuse me, please. I'm absolutely giddy at the moment. For once I don't mind my afternoon nap spoiled; but how do you expect me to close my eyes after this news? My eyes are round as saucers right now!

I've been solidly in his camp since the first speech I seen him give. Just think where we could be if he had a congress to work with rather than half of it working against him on every little thing. Obama is a good man doing a hell of a good job in spite of all the opposition.
