You've got a Friend in the BOG.

It's a place where everyone knows your name.

It's a place where we gather. We come here to laugh and cry and celebrate. We come here to rest and share with our friends.

The BOG has a renewable spirit, it is an amazing place. So now, things are dark, the outcome unclear. It is time for the BOG to reach out and link hands. We all have friends here that will help us through our troubled nights~

In the words of Carole King

When you're down in troubles
And you need some love and care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon i will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there
Yes I will
You've got a friend

If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend

I now know that on BOG, I have not just one but many many friends who share my support for and appreciation of our President. With him, we are indeed in safe hands.

Love Carole's song BTW!

Cheers and hugs back to you.

We need each other right now.

Carole King sang that in Boston, after the Marathon. She was there when we needed her the most.

Friends forever~

We are hanging together.

As for what's happening, wouldn't it be lovely to see the GOP leave town so President Obama can call Congress back into session; then when they don't show up in 5 minutes, we'll have an unopposed quorum. Of course I can't predict what he will do, but I know it will be spectacular. Well worth the wait.

it is wonderful to come here and acknowledge and celebrate the good here with you all.

this song has been in the forefront for me personally - of late. it is the song my family - especially my mom - know me for because i sang it a whole lot in the early 70's and would play it on the family stereo when i came home on the weekends from college.

my mom is in the latter, latter stage of alzheimer's. less than 90 lbs, unable to speak or move her limbs. any day now. one of her last phone calls to me a few years ago before the steep downhill of her decline, she called me to say she had found my old album and was playing it (i could hear it in the background) and she was thinking of me. so sweet.

these are trying times on so many levels - one can only imagine how challenging it is for so many across our country - from many walks of life, the poor, unemployed, disabled, the sick, our vets, our young people trying to move forward in life, food pantry organizers, soup kitchen volunteers who see they do not have enough, all of our leaders, etc., all creatures great and small, and for our potus and his wife and family.

My hand in yours for support.

Alzheimer's is an incredibly sad disease. My dad is not as bad as your mom, yet he suffers from that and dementia. He is 91. It pains me to go to the nursing home, I leave and am so sad at the suffering. Our parents have become our children when we wipe their nose or their mouth when they eat.

The music, hopemountain, it does help us get through. I am so very glad that your mom loved it too.

Hugs, sheshe.

My very best to you. I know to a degree what you're going through, because for years I cared for hospice patients, many of whom were so affected. One taught me a very important lesson; she was absolutely inconsolable until I bought a life-size baby doll and placed it in her arms. After that she calmed right down. All her long life she'd cared for children, and she still needed that connection. Since then of course I've learned that's a fairly common way to help female patients. But there might still be a lot of people unaware of that method, and so I'd like to pass it along here.

One of the things that still pains me is the memory of a male patient who could walk with a little guidance, but I'd been warned that when he returned to bedside, his knees would buckle so I'd better be ready to stop him from falling to the floor. He almost fought me every time. Then one night he found his voice: "I want to say my prayers!" he shouted. Well, after that I always found a way to lift him back up off the floor. But the thought that for months I'd stood between him and such a dearly held tradition haunts me a little even now.

thanks she she! I like hearing that song - both Carole King and James Taylor. I didn't know who wrote it. I'm glad it was the lady!
