(6,151 posts)Can't remind me of it too often. Like I said, the conservative lost sheeple at church today were amazingly nice to me. I don't know if it's because they think their side has won or they might be starting to see they should be glad it can't. Either way it felt wonderful and yet odd in that context. I'm not paranoid but am sensitive enough so that if I feel a wind change for the better, it's definitely there.

(6,151 posts)Regardless, I really believe the new pastor's having a good effect on the whole congregation. The next to last before him was such a jerk that he essentially called me a mooch when I simply called asking for references to any possible retired construction workers in the congregation who might be willing to do small paid jobs that big contractors don't have time to fool with. This was before I could afford to put on a new roof, and the old one had a single bad leak that only needed a good tar patch to last another year and a half. But the jerk also tried to bully me into selling my house and moving into public housing 'where you really belong' yada yada; later he asked the local Catholic priest why I yelled and slammed the phone down.
The one after that was too far the opposite, a total wuss. When I stepped over to the church one evening to discreetly listen to bell choir practice in an adjoining room, he rushed right over from the parsonage to warn me it would be 'inappropriate' for me to join that group since they'd been together for ages. I said that's the main trouble with this town, its cold shoulder.
The new one, however, is just about right. And you know I don't take to everybody. But he shows liberal leanings and has even dropped a timely compliment for me at Sunday School, so naturally I have to like him. He can do far, far more than I ever could to melt hearts. You know I'm way more of a shin kicker half the time.
Didn't mean to ramble too far off topic.

(4,309 posts)I'm just really hoping that election day 2014 is a clear, overwhelming and unmistakable FU to the Republicans and the tea party!
I'll be doing all I can to make that a reality.
Peace.

(87,272 posts)We have a lot of work to do to get there. However we will.
A big shout out to the GOPeePees~
They galvanized the entire Democratic Party to go on a seek and destroy mission in 2014.
GOTV 2014, our lives depend on it.

(4,309 posts)I'm pissed off, fed up and ready to rock the vote in 2014. We need to show these a-holes that shutting down our government because you don't like the results of a Presidential election is a LOSING strategy!
Those of us who believe in things like economic recovery, affordable health care, equal rights and a woman's decision regarding her own body will be out in DROVES!!!
We all voted in 2008 and 2012 for hope and change. Let's make it all a reality, once and for all, in 2014!
Peace,
Kath.

(42,691 posts)Buddhist so I dun know about that Satan stuffs... but I do know about Shinto gods, so 神様は私たちを守る kamisama wa watashitachi o mamoru!!!

(87,272 posts)The Shintō pantheon of kami 神 (spirits) includes countless deities and innumerable supernatural creatures. The term KAMI can refer to gods, goddesses, ancestors, and all variety of spirits that inhabit the water, rocks, trees, grass, and other natural objects. These objects are not symbols of the spirits. Rather, they are the abodes in which the spirits reside. The abode of the kami is considered sacred and is usually encircled with a shimenawa (rope festooned with sacred white paper). The Japanese believe this world is inhabited by these myriad kami -- spirits that can do either good or evil. These spirits are constantly increasing in number, as expressed in the Japanese phrase Yaoyorozu no Kami 八百万神 -- literally "the eight million kami."
Kami are not necessarily benevolent. There are numerous Shintō spirits and demons that must be appeased to avoid calamity, but there is no absolute dichotomy between good and evil. All phenomena manifest "rough" and "gentle" characteristics. The noted Japanese scholar Motoori Norinaga 本居宣長 1730-1801) defined kami as anything that was "superlatively awe-inspiring," either noble or base, good or evil, rough or gentle, strong or weak, lofty or submerged. There is no definitive standard of good and evil, there is no moral code. Things are as they are. Even the evil bloodsucking Kappa has some redeeming qualities -- i.e., when benevolent, the Kappa is a skilled teacher in the art of bone setting and other medical practices.

(305,137 posts)But, there's no hope for the brainwashed teabaggers I'm afraid. They can't grasp that they lost and we Won.
They tried to steal the election.. that didn't work. They've obstructed every piece of Legislation that would benefit people in our country that President Obama and the Dems proposed. Now they've Shutdown our Gov and will not raise the Debt Ceiling.
They've HiJacked our Government and Hijacked a MillionVets' March today to hold their KKK Rallly in front of our White House, yelling at our President to "Go Home".. led by the insipid two, ted and palin.
