Obama is amazing for all the bs he puts up with day in day out, I hope he took the day for himself & said screw the haters.

(4,309 posts)Yes! It is amazing how he has stayed on point for us and pushed his, and our, agenda against all of the RW, anti-women and racist hate that is directed at him constantly through Fox, hate radio and the GOP. My only regret is that I can't cast a vote for him again!

Laird Hamilton's Bodysurfing 101
"How to bodysurf"
The Superman approach of riding with both arms outstretched is how most novices wash ashore. But if you're trying to actually ride the wave to go across the wave and not just barrel straight ahead you want to ride on your side. Extend one arm out in front right arm to go right or left arm to go left and press off that hand. Your body will roll over on its side, increasing your edge in the water and allowing you to cut across the wave better. Then, stretch your other arm behind you and press your palm towards the water as a means to control your arch as with a surfboard, you want your body to have a little curve. And the more rigid you are, the faster you go. Fins definitely help, but it's nice to go natural. It's a more intimate way to be in the surf.
"All you have to do is look at President Obama. He has great form. He's an exceptional bodysurfer. When people in Hawaii see a picture of Obama bodysurfing they're like, "Oh, yeah!" It's not like he just went there and pretended he's doing it. Especially with his front hand up. That's style points right there. Let's just say he's the best bodysurfing president that we've ever had."

(305,415 posts)I saw that bit from Laird Hamilton. I've seen quite a lot about Laird since he lives over here on Kaua'i.
When I first came back to Kaua'i in 2010 I hadn't used "mahalo" for a long time but now that I've been here for awhile it just kind of inched its way back into my vocab.. like Aloha~

There are some negatives, but not on his birthday. Not today...not from me.

Share with friends:
Sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you, Leo. The problem with today's energy is that there just may be some sticks and stones tossed in your direction. Be on the lookout for such airborne adversity. Powerful forces are operating with emotional aggression. War can break out if you aren't careful. Try to maintain the peace. You may need to seek shelter.
Ha! Would that be congresses attempt at repealing Obamacare for the 40th time? So glad the President was able to get away to Camp David.
