(305,137 posts)It brings out all the sadness in the world about the senselessness of Trayvon's murder. And, it must be seen by everyone who is heartbroken.

(305,137 posts)the greatest.. to get more exposure but still in the BOG so we would have it here.
I've seen it lots of other places on the net.. and I would think it's on FB too. I haven't joined yet, so dunno. but, I should because my son is on there and I could keep up with him mo' better.. since it's his home away from home.

(31,443 posts)but some of the crap I read during the last election from people I thought I knew, was the last straw for me. I killed my account, and never looked back. Thanks again.

It brings tears.
Thank you Cha for posting.
Cha
(305,137 posts)I was racked with emotion and tears. It just feels so good that so many loving people care enough to give their all to Trayvon's memory.

(3,919 posts)my heart weeps.
the "a trend of whiteout our black skin" reference.
i am not black. but i am brown and red. when i was a child, my light skinned mom (who married a dark skin man- my dad) scrubbed my darker skin with comet. i was 3 or 4 yrs old. she also used to make my sister and i sit on stools in the yard with lemon soaked hair and curlers to lighten and curl our thick, straight, dark hair. we got into trouble for moving and squirming around on those stools. she forbid me to wear my hair in braids "like an indian"....etc., etc.
bigotry is just so damn ugly.
Cha
(305,137 posts)I'm so sorry for your traumatic experience of your mom trying to change you.. when you're beautiful just as you are.
I hope she got over that at some later point in her life.
It is so "Powerful" from these excellent Black Actors.. I'm so glad you got to see it.

(3,919 posts)& nope, my mom never really got over it. there is an awareness of color bigotry in me though, sort of like another "sense" to my personhood.
Cha
(305,137 posts)my dad was a racist bigot back in the day when we lived in Denver, Colo.. only I didn't know what it was called at that time. I was just a little girl who wasn't allowed to play with her friend because she was 1/2 Black.
I just knew it was wrong. So sad there are people like that who are so blind they can't see past a person's skin color.
