(305,415 posts)My first instagram! So inspired and so impressed by these extraordinary young women.
I couldn't find any mention of Malia and Sasha going with their parents but now it looks like they're in that pic with the "young women" in Senegal. They're really low key or it's not them.
And, how is "Instagram" different than a Tweet?

Data released this week shows that, for the first time, Instagram had more users than Twitter, marking a huge jump in the photo-sharing apps popularity.
In just six months, Instagram a free mobile app which allows users to take and post photos that resemble Polaroids skyrocketed to 7.3 million daily users in August from fewer than 900,000 in March. Twitter, which already had about 5.5 million daily users in March, trailed behind in August with 6.9 million users.
Instagrams having a good month; a few weeks ago, it was purchased by Facebook for $741 million, hit a milestone of 5 billion photos shared, and now is apparently competing with, and beating, the giants of the mobile app world.
Wired explains that its popularity comes from its status as a mobile purebred. Unlike Twitter which maintains a website, Instagram is mobile-first and mobile-only, and is reaping the benefits of a large shift in traffic to mobile devices.

So, Malia and Sasha did go with their parents to Africa? I was looking all over for mention of them going and could find nothing. Just Michelle and PBO.. now I see them in this pic, I think!

(4,309 posts)Awesome images! I have to laugh at the RW radio types who are whining about the cost of this trip. Yes, building peace and good will with other nations of the world isn't cheap, but it is far less costly than war. I'm so glad we have a President who understands that.

(87,493 posts)Sure, we have had our set backs. However it makes our resolve stronger does it not!

My resolve is stronger than ever. The events of this week really have me energized. A wonderful week for those of us who believe in those crazy little things like peace and women's rights! Very proud of President Obama!

(6,151 posts)Yes, I've heard mention of Sasha and Malia on the trip.
Don't remember exactly where, but at some excited rally a newscaster mentioned that it's almost like President Obama is their president too. The crowd was cheering, "Yes, he is! He's ours, too!"
One of the main pictures I'm looking for, though, would show where President Obama stood in The Door of No Return. Such a powerful image. I'm sure it won't be too hard to find.
