No-script often shows me lots of hidden sins

I was wanting to look at the spectacular sunrises and sunsets pictures from the Washington post in another thread, but was stopped by no-script showing me 10 other sites that wanted to run something on my computer.

I wish all developers would be much more careful what they try to link me to.

The worst I've ever seen was a popular anti-virus renewal form which had 37, yes 37, other sites linked to it, including two in .cn TLD. I called a friend in that company and 34 sites were removed in short order after he hooked me into a VP.

Recommendation: test your site with no-script and see if it still works.
Recommendation: place an explanation of which other scripting sites are necessary for the page to display properly and why.

1. Yep NoScript was very illuminating.

I ran it on my 10 y/o computer to keep it uncluttered. It made me much more careful about what I download or looked at. I't amazing how much junk follows you around the net - like Jacob Marley in "A Christmas Carol" "I forged these chains in life..."
Haven't put NoScript on my new machine yet. It is a pain because you have to manually allow every script.

2. manually allow every script... just a pain for a little while.

I got the hang of it pretty fast. I finally got my SO using Firefox all the time and now he has to deal with NoScript.

BTW: I don't think he misses the ads.
