Related: About this forumIOS15 and any iPhone question, "Ask next time or when I share" vs "While using app." which uses less
battery?
I dont even understand what the "ask next time" option means or does.
This is "Privacy" then "Location Services."

(8,448 posts)1. Use always
2. use while using app
3. ask next time
4. never use
In UBER app, temporarily I use 1 or 2.
Later, we can go to Preferences/Uber/Location and turn off completely.
for Apple Maps, i leave on.
for nearly every app, i turn location off.

(32,536 posts)Look at
privacy
location services
and any app or most and one of the options is
"Ask next time or when I share"
I dont know what that means NOR do I know if it uses more or less battery than "while using app."

(8,448 posts)Maps and Uber apps.
So its a privacy issue.
Example of reasonable location sharing:
If use KFC app to order online, location ON is recommended.
2. I believe battery usage is minimal for location sharing
Let me see if I can find an accurate website. (I am still on iOS 14)

(32,536 posts)while using app. Is it sharing your location while using app all the time while using app but only sharing location when asked if you use that option?
Thanks for helping.

(32,536 posts)If so, do people see a difference in streaming speed vs when you had LTE and are you rarely in the 5g MEGA areas where it is super fast? i.e. There are few areas where mega fast 5g speeds happen, the rest of the time do you see a difference vs LTE?

(13,836 posts)Updated to ios 15, and the ugrade set a whole lot of apps to share my location "when shared" whatever the heck that means, and in all of those cases, "Ask Next Time Or When I Share"
My approach is to never give out my location except to things like maps, and wallet, find my phone, and OBVIOUS ones WHILE USING.
Since I don't understand "when shared" I just turned all those off.
If you don't understand it, don't enable it.
Easy enough to undo if needed.
Lots of apps ( like scanner apps) want our location automatically, but it's easy enough to click it in.
For example, I don't let the weather app access my location. I plug in a few locations of interest, and that's all it needs.
Apple does a lot of things "on your behalf" when you upgrade, and that's what makes upgrades a pain in the ass.
You often have to go and undo some decisions they made for you.

(13,836 posts)"4gLTE" here (Sierra Foothills) is beyond terrible. Often, it slinks down to 1 bar, and then "No Service".
A knowledgeable person says it's the wireless tower "breathing". When there is a load, it cuts back on the range, dropping users out.
I would have to switch to airplane mode and quickly switch back so the phone could find a signal. Countless times each day and night.
It was hell.
I won't name the carrier, but it starts with a "V"
I absolutely had to get the DSL and run the phone off wi-fi almost all the time.
You can download a FCC speed test app to measure and report speeds.
Half the time, I couldn't even connect with the test server.
