Battery on the iPhone?

In addition to the charging cord that came with the phone, I also have a desktop square on which I place the phone and it charges it, Most of the time.

I don't like to just leave it on it for the night; it does not always reach 100% and last night before I retired, it was around 75%.

This morning it was dead. I had to use the cord to start charging it and after a few minutes it read 3%.

So I went to the settings, to battery Health, there is a graph and... it was more or less steady at 75% from 6:00 PM and then shortly after midnight it dropped at a 45 degree angle to about 10% at 3:00 am, and then proceeded, on a red lines to 0 by 6:00 am.

What would cause such a precipitous drop? How common is it?

1. Which model iPhone?

Late last year, I had to upgrade my 6, because it couldn’t hold a charge for more than a few hours of moderate use.

Got the MagSafe pad for my new 13. I always check to make sure the phone is actually charging (via screen as well as the “nightlight” on the pad).

If double-checking the phone-pad placement doesn’t work, it may be the phone’s model (battery health).

2. iphone 6 battery went weak on mine also. iphone 7 is normal

3. It is SE, got it at the end of 2020. Recently updated version to 15.4.1

And it is still at 100% since mid morning

4. I've noticed I need to make sure it's charging

Sometimes I put my phone on the pad and it doesn’t charge, so I need to move it around a little on the pad until it shows it’s charging.

5. Yes, I often have to do the same. But last night I did not want to worry about it since

it was 75% so it was just on the table..

6. 1. take off the case if you have one. 2. check the shape of the phone,

looking for bulges. if any bulge, get to an authorized Apple seller if under warranty. if not under warranty, any phone battery store.


3. you may have an app which is on background refresh. i turned all those off

7. Thanks, i do not feel any bulges and I have very few apps

but will watch it tonight. Still, looking at the graph, it charged very quickly and has been holding at 100% for the last five hours..

8. I just had my iPhone 7 battery replaced for the same reason. It was $49 @ Bestbuy. nt

9. Apple had am recall on iphone 6 batteries about 2 years ago because of this

10. iPhone extends battery life by not charging to 100%

iOS tries to extend battery life by not fully charging based on your use profile. It is better for the battery to not keep it changing ged right at 100%.
