1. Does anyone have a link for a good hosts.txt file ?
2. for those who dont know, such a file when properly placed in most (Apple, Windows, other unix) systems will block specific web sites. Some people may feel its too hard core. The download versions of hosts files are thousands of lines long.

It lets you choose some good sources with lists of hosts, although it's been around a while.

(1,923 posts)I used to edit my /etc/hosts.txt file ... but now I run PiHole on a Raspberry Pi: https://pi-hole.net
It basically turns a Raspberry Pi box into a DNS server (with filtered hosts), and can be the server for any/all of the machines on your local WiFi network. So not just my Macs, but iPhones and iPads can use it as well!
It's not for everyone, but fyi ... I found it easy enough to install.
