Weird thing happened with siri.

I was face-timing with my niece on my I-pad pro. Had my mini-pad closed and charging next to it. We were talking about trump. I said he's not just an idiot, he's evil. Siri from the closed mini says "that's not nice". My niece says who said that, shocked kinda knowing it was Siri.
What really bothers me about this is, if I had been talking about Manson or Jeffrey Dahmer, would Siri have piped in. Or did she just do it because she understood the context of what I was saying about trump. And since when can Siri allowed to be critical of me.

2. You may have prefaced it with something like "I'm serious" which can wake Siri up

I address my 20yo son as Sir sometimes. There have been times when he's come in from work and I'll say "Hey, Sir. How was your day?"" and Siri wakes up and tells me what day it is or says "I'm happy to be here". My husband said something to me the other day and my iPhone Siri woke up. I didn't think it was supposed to recognize other people's voices.

7. Technically, it is not supposed to recognize other peoples voices.

However, voice recognition is not 100% yet. Perhaps, your husband was saying something in a vocal register that closely mimicked your own...or at least close enough to fool the dumb AI that is and iPhone.

Or it was just another in a series of glitches...

One point, however: Siri is a machine and does not have a gender. "She" is an "it."

Just sayin'.

4. Siri is only supposed to respond to queries that start with "Hey Siri"

It is called an activation phrase. Yes, the device is in listening mode, but the listening is specific to a certain phrase, and certain vocal frequency. That "Hey Siri" in your voice activates the listening phase for other non specific phrases. Otherwise, Siri is just a dumb AI waiting to be activated.

What you report seems odd, like a glitch. I'd report it to apple.

I tried to duplicate the response to no avail. Even tried it by stating Hey Siri, my mini just displayed web pages with reference to trump and evil...

9. Right. Voice Recognition is not 100% yet. Close, but not 100%.

If Siri only hears the activation phrase, it will respond with "what can I help you with?"

It sounds like in your glitch case, that Siri heard the activation phrase and the "question/statement" and responded oddly.

Maybe Siri thought you said Siri was Evil. I was able to reproduce your exact glitch by stating "Hey Siri, your Evil." Siri responded with "That's not nice."
