No audio with YouTube. All other audio working fine.

MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8

Frustrating problem I've had for a while, checked various fixes on Google, so far nothing works.

The audio works fine for everything except YouTube, which has no sound at all. This is true for Safari and Firefox. I have installed the latest Flash Player.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

1. This might be a really dumb question...

But have you checked the volume in the youtube player itself? I've definitely spent quite a bit of time looking for solutions to problems that aren't there... It's one of those "Well, is it plugged in?" questions

and I've checked it several times since then, thinking maybe I missed something. The fact that the audio works for everything but YouTube does seem to tell me the basic audio is working.

Recently, the YouTube player has been coming up with the volume muted (on the player).
It is very annoying.

Resolved it by deleting the Macromedia preferences folder from library/preferences.

Might still be the solution.

6. I read about that somewhere, but it sounds sort of scary, who knows what I might be getting rid of?
