I have NOOOO idea what they're talking about:
>>>>Silverlight Installation Problem
Error Code: 2105
You have encountered an issue specific to Microsoft Silverlight, the software used to watch movies on the Netflix website. This issue is often resolved by uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft Silverlight on your computer.
To uninstall Microsoft Silverlight on your Macintosh computer, please follow these steps:
Completely close any currently open internet browser windows.
Navigate to your Hard Drive.
Select Library.
Select Internet Plugins.
Drag Silverlight.plugin to your trash.
Once you have emptied your trash, Microsoft Silverlight uninstallation will be complete.
After completing the above steps, attempting to Watch Instantly on www.netflix.com will prompt you to reinstall Microsoft Silverlight.>>>>>
I have a Macbook Pro... bought about three years ago.
Thanks much.

(51,122 posts)Seem clear to me. Silverlight is a crappy Flash app that Microsoft stopped developing, but Netflix still clings to.

(14,498 posts)There was no "Silverlight" there. Only one plugin related to Facebook. Can't delete something that's not there.... seems to me.
I found the Facebook plug in by accident. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Maybe there are OTHER plug-ins somewhere else on this machine.
Let's take this step by step:
How does one "navigate to the hard drive"?
Here's the message I get when i try to use Netflix Instant View:

than regular Mac people.
I think you need to reinstall Silverlight but they can tell you.
They can see your computer. Some of it anyway.
Scary in a comforting sort of way, or vice versa.

I didn't think of calling Netflix. Good thinking.
Thanks.

(20,886 posts)One is under your personal area (the house), the other is on your hard disk. You may be looking in the wrong one. Try doing a spotlight search. It will bring up all the mentions of silverlight and tell you where they are. Look for the one in the plug-ins folder. Click on the plug-ins folder (that will take you to the folder) and then remove silverlight fom the folder.

(14,498 posts)I don't know how... I just kept clicking a lot of buttons until I found one that started the de-installation process.
I'm really mystified by the terminology. I guess that's the crux of my problem.
For future reference, what do mean you by "the house"? I found "mac HD" (by accident), but how can I "navigate" there... to use Netflix's term.
Also... what's a "spotlight search"?
You were exactly right about "two libraries" ( Who knew?)
It's all Greek to me. I must be Roman. Or maybe just Neanderthal Man.
Thanks again.

(20,886 posts)There are several icons, (kinda in the middle) one of them being a house, probably with your name.
MacHD is there, too, probably at the top. If you click on that, it takes you to the nitty gritty of your hard drive and shows the hard drive library.
On edit: the house allows you to keep that area private if you have other people using your computer. You can password protect that area. If you are the only one to use it, though, the password can be a PIA. you have to enter it whenever you start computer and when it awakes from sleeping.

My son had to watch a movie (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) for school and Netflix instant view was the only way.
Pretty good film, btw. And now I know how Instant View works.
Thx again.
