NFC in it's current state is tepid functionality-wise, at best. Which is one reason Apple has stayed away from it.

In fact, today as a feature of iOS 7, they introduces 'AirDrop.' The presenter took a swipe at Samsung and their NFC 'Bump,' (got a big laugh) which was featured in a bunch of Apple dissing ads. It does not work well, and few Samsung owners even try to use it.

In AirDrop, you touch the screen of your device to deliver media to a iOS or OS X user (or users). What the Samsung commercials did not show was that you had to set up the transfer on the screen... and then bump phones. Apple skipped the silly hipster 'bump.'

I'll try Airdrop and we'll see what else they come up with.

Actually, right now, my biggest problem is keeping track of my apps.

I know I'm way behind the curve, but this might be enough to finally get me to take the plunge. I'll still probably wait until iOS 7 ships to get one, though. If they start selling the rumored iPhone 5S around the same time, I'll likely get an iPhone 5 since the price should drop with the release of the 5S.

The section with Craig Federighi, which has been placed in the middle at about 3:55, really shows the practical user oriented walkthrough.

Federighi did a great job on Monday. We need to see more of him.

Or will new hardware be necessary?

I wonder what the price will be for the new, soon-to-be available "lower cost" phone some are calling "iPhone 5C" ?
