Not a Computer but a 43" Vizio television, the guide isn't matching the channels, input issues and now no picture
If I had to guess it's most likely 10 years old which what I looked up is about the average lifespan of this television.
Last week, the guide wasn't matching the channels at all so I unplugged the television and the Roku device. Rebooting has always worked before. The guide was on track until a few days ago so again I rebooted both the television and Roku.
Yesterday I had some sort of input issue and couldn't get the television to work at all. I unplugged it all and plugged it all back in again and it worked.
Today, there's sound but only a brief picture after rebooting. The picture lasts for about 5 minutes.
My expertise in electronics is once setting a VCR clock in 1996 without an instruction manual and rebooting devices, so I'm not really tech savvy.
I'm hoping this television is salvageable and hoping there's a lose cable or something simple.
If this television needs to be replaced, I'm looking for a decent 43" brand under $400.
Any helpful suggestion or insights are welcomed.

(14,715 posts)Do you have any other source for a tv input? Do you have another tv you could plug the roku into?
Most tv's have a menu for adjusting stuff. Unplug the roku and see if you can just use the tv remote (or if the tv has buttons for controlling it alternatively use those) to see if the tv works at all on its own.

Not exactly what I was hoping for but it is what it is.

(34,075 posts)Id pick up a Samsung that comes with the free cable network. I save a grand a year by dropping regular cable and using it. Might add Peacock for a few bucks a month to get MSN. I also added an over the air antenna for $45 and get another 70 channels of local broadcast that I love.

I currently have a 25" PC monitor with speakers sitting in the place of the television, but at least I can watch TV.
We have an August DU fundraiser coming up soon too and I like being able to participate in that.
