It seems ads on you tube are getting more aggressive
I like to watch you tube videos for a year or so now on my iPad. it has always bugged me that I have to sit through ads if I am busy and can't press the skip but oh well nothing I can do about that. But for a week now a couple of commercials I realized there is no skip button and I have to listen to the entire ad ! The one I just watched and inspired me to write this was like three minutes long about a porch camera. I tried several things and the only way out is to close you tube completely and start over. I could not minimize and everything I did to the screen was inactive unless I closed it with the home button. I am hoping there is a way to stop this if not I may just quit you tube even though I find interesting stuff to watch . But just enduring ads is not worth it to me. Another question is is this even legal? The buttons and screen are rendered completely inactive !?! thank you advance to anybody who knows a way around this.

I hear you hydrolastic. They have become particularly aggressive over the past year or so, making it almost impossible to block their ads.
You didn't say if you use the YouTube app or a browser to view videos. I rarely use the app these days - too annoying, preferring to run YouTube on my desktop machine. There is an excellent tool called 'Tampermonkey' that apparently will run on iPad, Android etc as well as Windows.
It's probably better if you read about it for yourself. Basically, Tampermonkey is a script manager. You install it as a browser extension then download scripts to run when you launch YouTube. Examples are ad blocking, hide already viewed videos, bypass age restrictions and much more.
I'll leave you with some links to get you going. I've been using this for over a year now and have had no problems at all. It's a bit of a learning curve, but take it slow and read everything. Good luck.
