I think I have successfully blocked all tweets from

displaying on my computer.

I used the windows "hosts" file method as per the instructions here. https://woshub.com/block-domains-websites-windows-firewall-powershell/#h2_1

the urls I added to the hosts file:

twitter.com
x.com
www.twitter.com
www.x.com
platform.twitter.com

if anyone wants help doing the same, feel free to pm me.

No matter.what.Thoae bastards suspended me and once that happens you cannot get rid of the account. They leave it here as a zombie even though you cant use it. It inflates the number of users .

I deleted all the followed accounts from my twitter profile so it was just like an empty shell. I left the account there but I do not use it at all, that is I never log into it anymore.

a link to a tweet it should be stated in the title line.

have some sensational sounding title. Then you waste 10 minutes listening to someone build up
to some 2 second statement someone made. You know like TYT or Luke whatever his name is. I no longer
listen to them.

Apple users (mac and iphone/ipad) can use ScreenTime

On a per-browser basis Firefox/Opera/chrome suggest using "Block Site" (not sure if this the same for each or just the same or similar name)
https://www.technipages.com/block-websites-chrome-opera-edge-firefox/

Or you can just knock the site out of DNS for your entire home network with a pi-hole.
That used to be specific to a raspberry-pi computer but now will run on most linux distros (on a VM? I didn't dig that far).

requirements (like 2 or 4 GB space and 512MB ram)

Or perhaps use the built-in firewall in Windows and Mac.

If you use Firefox with the NoScript add-on, then Twitter/X/WhateverTheFuckIt'sCalledTheseDays javascript programs won't run unless you specifically allow them.

Here's a link to NoScript's site, which will explain more:

noscript.net

Personally, I use NoScript, and I haven't seen a tweet in months.

Congrats! We've had twitter blocked for a few weeks now. It's wonderful

I might suggest adding "t.co" to your list. See http://www.webconnoisseur.com/blog/twitter/wondering-what-t-co-is/

For the record, we've got a PiHole DNS server here that lets us blacklist patterns like *.twitter.com and *.x.com and *.t.co. If your a bit of a computer hacker and linux doesn't scare you, check out https://pi-hole.net -- an ad blocker for every computer on your WiFi without having to touch the individual machines.

Cheers!

Thank you.

I used to build linux server machines for dns or file serving or fax serving and web and ftp and like that. But I don't think I need to go to that level of effort.
