Phone mini-SD card install fail, fail after format, works fine with automotive dielectric grease
Really. After I bought a mini-SD card adapter. All the Samsung I've read never mentioned dielectric grease, but there it is.

(18,141 posts)Using a mini SD and adaptor gives you and extra point where it can fail vs. an SD card.

I'd be afraid to use anything abrasive on anything now, the plating is too thin.
But I wonder if there was dust or debris that was causing the card or contacts to bind & the paste helped alleviate it?
Or maybe the grease helped clean the contacts?

(47,050 posts)I did try cleaning it with an eraser, but that didn't do anything. Next procedure said to format it on a PC, so I needed to buy an adapter. It formatted fine but still not recognized by the phone. I put very little dielectric grease ... and wiped any excess off with a Q-tip, so it was just a surface coat. I wonder if it will be durable, but it won't store anything important so I'm none too worried.

Well, I'm glad it worked and now we all have one more tool in our toolboxes!
