Help needed to email a video.
I don't know where to ask this.
I have a 2 minute video that I want to email to a friend. My computer came up with this message: This video exceeds the global size limit of the server, which is 41697280 bytes.
I have to reduce the size in order to send it. No idea how to do that.
It's a Windows 7 desktop computer.
241 MG is the size of the video.

(152,299 posts)I don't have gmail, but I do have Google on my computer. I was messing around in there and found some of the things you're talking about. I will watch these videos and see what happens.
Another poster just made some suggestions too, and I will keep them in mind.
I wish there was a simple way to change the size limits, but I guess not!
Thanks so much!

(19,207 posts)Email always is a bear about file sizes.
I know you have to have a google account and I think that creating a gmail is the only way?? Not sure on that.
It's a great way to share large files/folders w/people!

(7,947 posts)You go to your gmail page, then in the upper right, there's a little icon of a block of boxes-- that's the programs associated with the gmail account, including Google Drive.
You can go there, click NEW (left side navigation bar) and FILE UPLOAD. You can browse for the video file and upload it.
While that's uploading, start an email to your friend. You'll be pasting a link into the body of the email-- just a link, not the file, so size won't be a problem.
The file will take a couple moments to upload. Then you can right-click on that file in Google Drive, and select "Get a shareable link". (You might be prompted to turn ON sharing for that link.) Copy the link, then go to the email, and paste the link.
Then send the email to the friend. Tell him/her to click on the link, and then download the video, or just watch it there on the Google Drive.
Hope that helps! It's a bit of a process, but shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
(If you don't have a gmail account, it just takes a minute to set it up: https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/gmail/setting-up-a-gmail-account/print/

When you upload the file, you can send it to as many people as you'd like -- up to 100. Once uploaded, you receive an email verifying the upload. You receive emails when the file is downloaded, too.
Lots more features on the site.
Give a try. It's free and requires no registration -- either by the sender or the recipient.
