Attempted email hack (?)

What was it?

I was trying to access Thunderbird email on my ACER Vertiton desktop (Windows 7) and this screen popped up saying I needed to install these new add-ons.

I checked the link and it didn't come from Mozilla. It was thunderbird something or the other.

I attempted to close the box and it would not close.

I tried again just closing out the entire email program and restarted it and there it was again! I closed it out again and it seems to have gone away.

I ran Malwarebytes on it and SuperAntiSpyware on it and came up clean.

What was this? An attempted hack?

Never seen anything like it before.

Has anyone else experienced this. It occurs when trying to access Thunderbird email it seems.

I checked and couldn't find any messages/alerts re: this.

Whatever it was, it did not install!

BEWARE out there!

It might be a malicious email trying to install stuff.

Look under Tool/Add-ons. Delete anything suspicious.

If you still have problems, back up your Tbird mail folder, then reinstall it from scratch.

Good luck.
