Acer Chromebook screen flicker

Mine is a little over a year old, and the screen started flickering a week ago. I can get it to stop by moving the lid up and down until I find a spot where it stops flickering, but it seems to be getting worse and harder to find that spot.

What is causing it, and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

however, it could also be a glitch in the graphics chip.

there is likely a online video on how to take apart your laptop so I would do that and make sure all of the cables for the video are seated properly.

The danger is putting it all back together. The videos always make it look easy... but looks are deceiving.

And, if it is the graphics chip... this won't help at all. Pretty much you are looking for a new one at that point although you can always check and see if a repair shop will do it for peanuts ( unlikely ).

My laptop starting experiencing issues... I took it to Best Buy Geek squad and they gave me a repair bill (including replacing the failing disk drive and the battery) of close to $350... for $500 I could get a new computer... so that's what I did. I gave the old laptop to my niece who had a friend repair for like $150 so now she has a decent laptop.

it might be something not easily fixed. The only computer repair place in my town charges a lot even for tweaks, and I'm a klutz at trying to fix things like this, so if I find myself in over my head trying to, when the flickering becomes unmanageable I'll buy a new one.

I'll check online for a how-to and see what happens when I try it.

Thanks again!

If you are out of warranty, then you may want to try a self-fix per lapfrog_1's suggestion above... But, that is risky.

Sometimes they have a grace period... For example if I bought a computer on Black Friday for a Christmas present, I've had manufacturers honor the date the computer was given.

Take it back and try to buy an extended warranty. Where did you buy it?

Go ASAP... Sweet talk a manager... It's no skin off their nose to exchange it to keep you happy. They probably sell a gazillion of those.

Keep us posted.

Check your card!

Many of them double the manufacturers warranty.

Both of the cards I use have this benefit.
