Should we unsticky the posts at the top of the forum ?
Hi all,
A suggestion was made to me that we should "unsticky" the posts at the top of this forum. They definitely aren't absolutely necessary, and it's possible some of the information over time becomes incorrect. The incorrect (or highly debatable) information does need to be unstickied.
Let's have a two week poll. If it becomes apparent that the poll is being trolled one way or the other, I will disregard those votes. To keep this as unbiased as possible, I will NOT vote.
Please vote. Thanks.
Steve, your happy CHaS host

(37,468 posts)I'm not quite sure of your overall point. Thanks.

(1,097 posts)Where "Y" = "Latest Threads" hoping it would "ALWAYS" be stickied.
Hope that's clear. No, I was not voting to "unsticky" ALL threads

(37,468 posts)This is the Computer Help and Support sub-forum. We have no "Latest Threads" here. Yes, technically, we have threads that are the "latest" but we have no formal designation of Latest Threads, which the overall forum does have, on the front page.
Here is the formal front page of DU: https://www.democraticunderground.com/ Latest Threads tab is at the very top. In your browser, it may be in a different location.
Here is the formal front page of CHaS: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1095 As you can see, there is no formal designation of "Latest Threads".
You are posting in a sub-forum of DU. Our formal rules (Computer Help and Support (Group): About This Group), enforced very leniently by me, are here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=about&forum=1095
I hope this helps with any confusion. You may wish to change your vote.

(8,546 posts)I think there is a lot of useful information in those threads, but there are so many that one has to scan (or scroll) down too far to see the current/active threads.
Perhaps creating one or two new threads to sticky that will link back to the currently stickied threads. Maybe a Tips and Info for Computer/Internet Security and another for Hints and Help on Troubleshooting Computer Problems. That would allow links to new useful threads/posts/info to be added by editing those OPs or replying to the threads. It might be helpful to append the updated/edited date to the title of any stickied threads to alert members to new information - also use the Explain edits feature when updating the OPs to have an easy to find revision history.

(37,468 posts)I left the most current one, which seems to have some support.
