So I bought a refurbished Chromebook for all of $99 Dollars. It's small and light weight. It loads up in 8 seconds and handles every web site I've pointed it at with speed and efficiency. I've used it to watch TV (Fubo) and to listen to music, email and even update my resume.
I love it! The battery lasts an easy 6-8 hours and even the keyboard is as nice as my I-Mac. Point being, there is life after being an Apple Fan Boy for years. It's scary how cool this median is for the money. Anyone else have this discovery?

(3,115 posts)I have three chromebooks and two chromeboxes...all work well...older ones
still surfing and streaming, and can run a version of Linux in a tab or window
through a set up called Crouton...newer Chromebooks will run most android
apps and soon will have greater (and easier) Linux integration. I do have a
couple of Windows PCs still but just for running a couple of Win only apps...
fun stuff...

(23,738 posts)One older Asus, and a Dell with 4GB ram. Have periodically installed Linux compatibility environments on it, but prefer remote desktop into a proper Linux machine.
I've been programming for food for about 23 years, and while I do most of my real work on Macs or Linux machines, the Dell Chromebook is the one I take to meetings, day-long conferences, and on the bus with me. Sometimes I do some coding on it via Codenvy.com.
Neither one of the Chromebooks cost over $200.

(17,985 posts)Got one from school. When she graduated I got her o e which she still uses over two years later. I got one about five months ago, and I love it. Does almost everything I want. I brought my Windows 7 machine back from the dead, but really only use it for printing and DVD reading now.
