Related: About this forumWhat do you do with old bed pillows?
Do you just put them out in the garbage?
I can't see how they could be recycled or used again for hygenic reasons.

(72,300 posts)They make great car pillows.

(28,941 posts)Or, if they're cotton stuffed with down (no synthestic materials) you could use them around the garden as a weed barrier, I suppose.
Why aren't you washing them? That would take care of any hygienic concerns you have.

(7,506 posts)The old dacron/poly pillows flatten and when washed become lumpy. Old feather pillows don't wash well and are hell to dry. I've tried to rejuvenate both types and have had no luck.
Off to the trash. I watch every penny, but if I need pillows, the $$ comes from my meager household budget.
I can't seem to rejuvenate any old pillow, no matter what it is made of. I can get a new pillow at Marshall's or similar for under $10.00. It will last me long enough to justify not trying to rejuvenate an old one.

(18,219 posts)But since they last a long time, then longer as a pet bed, I don't mind having to throw them out so infrequently.
I used to use them to make throw pillows, but I don't need any more of those.

(17,276 posts)Throw pillows, if you can sew or crochet a cover.
Car pillows: cut in half with sissors (if they are the poly kind) and make little half pillows for the car or elsewhere.
Flattened ones can be good pet beds--
--- or even seat cushions (for the computer chair or wherever.)
I have even torn up the insides to make stuffing for stuffed animals, if you are into that.
Also have taken a bunch up to the family cabin by the lake (not ours but in the family).
And I still have a shelf full of them!!!
