Household Hints & Help
Related: About this forumI tried the spiral fluorescent light bulb.
Didn't like it and now want to dispose of it safely. I know it has mercury among other chemicals.
I don't want to drop it in the trash like my regular incandescent bulbs.
How do you properly and safely throw out these fluorescent bulbs?

(18,219 posts)If it is still good, try to find someone who would want it instead of throwing it out. A friend? A neighbor? I don't like them as well as incandescents either, but I use them------and being frugal, I would always take a free bulb if it was offered to me.

(11 posts)If it is still in a good condition, why are you dumping it. You can handover it to someone who needs it

(3 posts)I didnt even know they needed a special discard process. They are supposed to save on energy and are used for "Green purposes". Why did you not like them? I am using them and I cant really tell a difference. Do they come in different wattages like the regular light bulbs? IS the mercury in these dangerous? I wonder if they have these instructions and warnings on the box. I will be checking on the next purchase. IF you find out how to dispose, please post.
