I can't find laundry detergent in powdered form.

Liquid or pods.

Why? I could measure then combine the detergent with powdered color-safe bleach, put it in a pint plastic container and go to the laundromat. And have 20 of them ready to go. Plus the container for the detergent was cardboard, easy to recycle.

Someone please explain to me why?

started using them a few months ago,,,, cut each sheet in half bec there's just 2 of us and we do small loads,,,, each pack lasts us 2 months. my skin is very sensitive so I started with just clothes and towels, switched to bedsheets last all without a problem. The laundry sheet just dissolves in water,,,, love these and will never go back. After trying them, I bought a dozen packs during a promotion Earth Breeze had and have now gifted a couple to my daughter and a friend I'm still set for a year and a half.

I can't find it either. But there's all you can carry in plastic bottles!

Dollar tree only had these little pouch detergents. 10 to a box.

5. I don't know. But I make my own laundry detergent for pennies and it's environmentally friendly

and it works as well as what's on the shelves. You could make a powdered version in a minute.

A while ago one of the containers I have been reusing for years broke and I thought I'd treat myself and get a bottle of store bought detergent to use up and then use the bottle as my container. The store bought was a real disappointment. Things didn't come clean, stains didn't go away, ghosts of odors still stuck around.

I make my detergent a liquid, but you could do a powdered version. I put a quarter cup of Cascade dishwasher soap, a quarter cup of washing powder (big box found in laundry aisle) and a quarter cup of Borax in the gallon bottle and fill it with water.

As you prefer powder, just mix the three ingredients and add the mixture to your pint containers. But you don't need much. As I said, those three quarter cups make a gallon of great laundry soap.

My wife has been using soap nuts for years and we get some really filthy sweaty clothes…gardening is our life. We are not easy on clothes. I can’t stand the smell of most laundry detergents soap nut have no odor. I can’t stand to walk down the laundry aisle at the store. Gain is the worst.

I’m not sure of the brand she uses the link is to the MRH blog and explains the way soap nuts work.

14. Maybe you can help with an issue I had ...

...with homemade detergent. After a prolonged use, my laundry began to yellow. My recipe had an Oxi-Clean in it so I am not sure wqhy it began to do that. At any rate I went back to my Kirkland brand of powdered laundry soap and it was a lot better. Also that detergent is good for other uses as well, like using for a car wash, cleaning concrete, and anything that you need a strong soap.

15. If I have something white that begins to yellow, I'll put it into a peroxide

soak for a couple of hours. That usually fixes it.

I got some stains on some vintage linens. They looked yellow with some stains that were darker and looked like rust. Apparently, that's not uncommon. I found something called Mama's Miracle linen soak which was amazing. I think I'd try that next time I'm noticing a white summer shirt going yellow.

Generally, though, I'm not seeing any yellowing with my clothes with my homemade detergent.

12. I've been using Charlie's Soap powdered detergent for the past few years and I love it.

Their oxygen bleach is amazing. Their products used to be available at my Kroger, but they stopped carrying it, so I just order it online. Their bags are recyclable, too.
