Traps out, but can't seem to catch mice!

Used peanut butter as bait. Finally called exterminator. He says they know how to avoid traps, especially when they can find crumbs as a food source. He put out more traps. No mice. Any ideas?

It isn't a slow death if you check the trap. Clean up is simple, throw out the board and mouse In_The_Wind Jan 2017 #5
Where do you throw the mice? Garbage can? Dumpster? japple Jan 2017 #6

It is our cat. She is quite efficient and there are no bodies to dispose of.

And with a field beside me, I get a lot of mice in the house. The cats are useless, but I use a good snap trap (I have learned to always get Victor brand). I put peanut butter down just so that I can stick a chocolate chip on it as bait. Every mouse dies with a bite of chocolate in his mouth. And since I usually get them coming under my sink where the trash can is, there is always other things that they could eat.

Use a bit of Tomcat Mouse Attractant liquid on top of the peanut butter.

We have chickens, a plague wiped out foxes in our county, and thus there has been a massive increase in rats infesting our chicken house. This black goopy stuff seems to attract the little pests to the traps more than peanut butter alone.

Have a Heart but you have to release them quickly or they die of fright. Ever since my dogs cornered a naked blind newborn field mouse in my living room.. and I kept him as a pet for 6 years... I have a hard time killing mice. The are now all 'Mousies'. I catch them by hand toss them out the door. they wont bite. I had one run UP my pant leg (inside) once. Just stepped outside and lowered my drawers and away she ran.

Almost felt sorry for the littlun, except I know they spread disease.
