scorch marks on my kitchen counter, ACK!

I put an exceedingly hot saucepan on my counter for a second and it left scorch marks both on the counter top and the wood edge around it. I tried scrubbing with Comet cleanser but that
didn't work. I remember getting a high quality counter top (not marble) and I always loved the wood edge. I am sick at heart.

what cleanser gets scorch marks off?

My very practical plumber friend recommends toothpaste. I have my doubts but why not? CTyankee Aug 2016 #2

Do they still make that?

Vinegar? Bleach? I don't know but those are things I would try. It will probably take a few applications, which ever you use. Time heals all wounds.

Sanding might help.

Good luck!

Vinegar might do it but I'm not sure that if Comet (which has bleach in it) doesn't do it, straight bleach may not and might discolor the wood...
