A Little Weird
(1,754 posts)I don't think it was crockpot brand but a slow cooker of some sort and I think it came from Walmart too. It made a huge mess but it didn't blow up everywhere like yours did, the ceramic pot just split open and the liquid spilled all over the countertop and over onto the floor.
I still use my crockpot from time to time, but now I worry more about leaving it.
hermetic
(8,636 posts)Never heard of that happening. I live by my crockpot, many years. But I've never seen a recipe that said to leave it on for more than 12 hours. I never leave one on overnight. Turn it off, turn it back on in the morning. I recommend buying online.

(8,175 posts)I've had problems with products from Walmart and Ace Hardware (my oil heaters). I used to buy oilpfilled radiator heaters that lasted for many years. Now they won't even last a year, and i"m so disgusted. These heaters cost $50 and should last more than a year, but they are just crap.

(8,175 posts)and even that would not have stopped this from happening. I still don't know what caused it to happen. We did have a short power failure this morning. I wonder if there was a power surge or something. But that was hours ago...long before this happened.
