I'm much happier with Michael Moore's proposal than Bernie Sanders

Bernie's proposal not only does not get money out of politics but it expects Congress to regulate it!!!!

Here's from Moore...

..snip..

a) A constitutional amendment that fixes our broken electoral system by 1) completely removing campaign contributions from the political process; 2) requiring all elections to be publicly financed; 3) moving election day to the weekend to increase voter turnout; 4) making all Americans registered voters at the moment of their birth; 5) banning computerized voting and requiring that all elections take place on paper ballots.

b) A constitutional amendment declaring that corporations are not people and do not have the constitutional rights of citizens. This amendment should also state that the interests of the general public and society must always come before the interests of corporations.

..end..

OP on Bernie's proposal...

...especially...

"5) banning computerized voting and requiring that all elections take place on paper ballots."

Honest, non-privatized, non-corporatized, non-'TRADE SECRET' vote counting--vote counting restored to the PUBLIC venue--is the most bottom-line condition necessary to reform. Indeed, it is the bottom-line condition for democracy itself. Until it is restored, we really don't have a democracy.

I understand and applaud the other planks of Moore's proposal--and support them with all my heart. But getting rid of the 'TRADE SECRET' voting systems is, to me, the first and essential step toward those other goals. And what I see, right now, is that it has to happen at the state/local level with a widespread citizen movement. It ain't gonna happen in Washington, believe me.
