2014 and 2020 IA US Senate Election- Dave Loebsack-D.

If Loebsack-D had been the Democratic nominee for the 2014 IA US Senate Election instead of Braley-D, Could Loebsack-D have defeated Ernst-R or would he have done bad as Braley-D did?

Loebsack-D is retiring from the US House in 2020. Any chance he runs for the US Senate?

at all levels. I believe Loebsack won his district but not by a substantial margin in 2014. Plus Ernst had a huge amount of outside money (Kochs and NRA). My guess is Dave may have done better but would probably have come up short.

As for 2020, my personal feeling is Loebsack wants to retire, period. We may hear some rumors in the next week or so, but my guess is that he is retiring.
