Tom Harkin-IA, Tim Johnson-SD, and Jay Rockefeller-WV 2014 hypothetical.

IA- If Harkin-D had ran for re-election in 2014, would he have defeated Ernst-R?
SD- If Johnson-D had ran for re-election in 2014, would he have defeated Rounds-R?
WV- If Rockefeller-D had ran for re-election in 2014, would he have defeated Moore Capito-R?

You want to use the past participle of the verb to run.

Present tense: I run for office.

Past tense: I ran for office.

Past perfect: I had run for office.

I'm sorry, but these kinds of errors make me a bit crazy.
