You would not normally expect some of those papers to agree on anything, but it seems even UK conservatives can see how dangerous this moment is.

4. Apart from anything else, and politics aside,

I think Trump's extremely unpopular on a personal level over here. He's tried to throw his weight around concerning his golf courses over the years, among other factors, and fits the stereotype of "the ugly American" to a tee.

Support for Ukraine has been very much cross-party since the 2022 invasion, which is also a significant factor.
