The Lying Brexiteer Liars and the Lies they tell...

Another reason why we can't have nice things...

As the UK enters a critical week let's remind ourselves what the officially recognised leave campaign was saying in the lead up to the June 23rd 2016 referendum. Vote Leave, of course, was led by Johnson and Cummings

Heh

And this...

And yet still they come at us with their bollocks and whatever happens next will of course not be their fault!
They know they never wanted a deal and they just lied and lied and lied because this was always about white male privileged wealth , sacrificing everyone's standard of living to protect their wealth by avoiding the EU's clampdown on tax dodging and creating a deregulated tax haven for them and their cronies. If they had there way they would not stop until we ended up back in the times before parliament when the rich and privileged ran the country as a feudal state .... heh..

They variously talked about remaining in the Customs Union and "having our cake and eating it".

Their propaganda insisted any withdrawal would be orderly and planned, and that full preparations would be made before Article 50 was triggered.

May triggered Article 50 seemingly on the spur of the moment, to quell unrest among the ERG and other headbangers and look like her government was actually doing something.

Hell mend them, the Opposition, with notable exceptions, voted in favour of it.

May set her stark red lines of "ending freedom of movement" front and centre.

Those red lines meant that any idea of a formal trade relationship with the EU through the Customs Union etc. was a non-starter.

"Ending freedom of movement" is the only promise they look like being able to deliver on after three gruelling, pointless years, and even then it only applies to EU citizens, which probably isn't what some of the worst of the Leavers were hoping for.

I thought her deal gave the foreigner-distrusting Europhobes pretty much what they said they wanted during the referendum vote - a way of cutting the right of all EU citizens to come to the UK to look for work. But they decided they wanted trade barriers with the EU (and thus a hard Irish border) after all, so they rejected it.

would like to see an end to the influx of people who don't look or sound like them.

Any arrangements with the EU won't address that because it's not the only source of immigration. It'll be up to the "hostile environment" under Patel and the UK's long-term economic decline to do the job.
