Solomon Islands accuses Australia of "foreign interference" after election offer - ABC News (Aus)

The Solomon Islands Government has branded an Australian offer to help fund its upcoming election as "foreign interference", "inappropriate" and "an assault on parliamentary democracy". The offer came as Solomons Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare tries to pass a bill in parliament, to delay the vote for a year - arguing the country cannot afford to hold it so soon after the Pacific Games.

Foreign Affairs reporter Stephen Dziedzic says the full details of the proposal are unclear.
