Governor presents budget to Wyoming legislative committee

CHEYENNE – Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead presented and defended his supplemental budget proposal before the Joint Appropriations Committee on Monday as committee members began a week of meetings to review the budget.

The committee, colloquially known as JAC, is charged with reviewing state spending.

Mead reiterated his feeling that the worst of the economic downturn is over, though tough decisions still have to be made, especially with education funding.

His proposal does not call for any general fund budget cuts in addition to what he and the Legislature collectively cut during the course of 2016.
