With little ability to generate their own revenue, Wyoming cities fear loss of state funding
Wyoming’s unique tax structure means most government services have long been paid for by energy companies.
But since taxes on extractive industries go directly to the state government, local governments are heavily reliant on the Legislature to give them a piece of the pie.
Now cities and towns are looking to the Wyoming Legislature for more autonomy and taxation authority as they anticipate state money to dry up as severance taxes and mineral royalties flatline.
In the short term, the Wyoming Association of Municipalities is focused on securing the remaining $78 million already pledged by the state to local governments through next year during the upcoming legislative session in January.

Wyoming voted 70% for Trump, 22% for Clinton. Also:
"Like most other states of the Mountain West, Wyoming is currently a Republican stronghold in presidential elections, having voted Democratic just once since 1952 – the 1964 landslide victory of Lyndon Johnson over Barry Goldwater."
My take on the funding problem?
TOO BAD, SO SAD. You guys hate taxes, so you should be happy that the big, wonderful corporations that run WY are paying less. I suggest you pull yourselves up by your cowboy bootstraps. Surely you could start a business? Become a day trader? Collect deer antlers?
It makes me want to shoot myself out of frustration -- they want no taxes, and then wonder where all their money to run their towns is going to come from.
