Agard (D) and Pellebon (D) candidate Q&A for Dane County executive

Voters will choose leaders across many levels of government at the ballot box Nov. 5, including who will be the next head of Dane County.

Melissa Agard and Dana Pellebon are vying to be county executive after Joe Parisi retired from the role in May. Typically, the county executive is elected to serve a four-year term and receives $142,420 in annual salary.

But in this special election for the seat, the county executive will finish out the remainder of Parisi’s term, which expires in May 2025. Then another election in the spring will decide the next four-year term.

The county executive signs or vetoes measures passed by the Dane County Board of Supervisors, manages county government agencies and finances, oversees services, and appoints county agency leaders.
