WI-AD46: Joan Fitzgerald (D) and Jenifer Quimby (R) battle in 46th Assembly District

For the first time in years, parts of Dane County and Jefferson County are joined in one state Assembly district.

Voters in Assembly District 46 will choose between Democrat Joan Fitzgerald, a retired teacher and former Jefferson County Board member, and Republican Jenifer Quimby, mayor of Waterloo, when they head to the polls on Nov. 5.

The district includes Cambridge, Cottage Grove, Deerfield and Marshall, as well as the Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills area. The area is currently divided among three different legislative districts, with lawmakers who are all seeking election in different seats.

To learn more about this important race, the Cap Times sat down with the candidates for the 46th Assembly District to get a feel for their priorities and what they believe makes them the best fit to serve in the Assembly.
