After Republicans tried to ban it last year, the World Naked Bike Ride returns to Madison Wisconsin

I have not participated but certainly sat with others having a brew on State Street as the bikers went pedaled by.
We just waved. Personally, I would think it would be uncomfortable.

Anyways, it is a rather lengthy article-includes how some legislators tried to ban it.

MADISON – Less than a year after lawmakers in the state Capitol attempted to ban it, the World Naked Bike Ride made a triumphant return to downtown Madison on Saturday.

About 200 participants rolled toward the statehouse around 11:30 a.m., soliciting cheers, high fives, waves, cellphone photos and causing some adults and children to look away.

Many take part in the ride as an expression of body positivity and as a protest of greenhouse gas emissions. Other participants say the ride helps their confidence and mental health, or attend after surviving breast cancer and having mastectomies.

Holly McEntee, who has participated about seven times, had seen the ride happen in the past but was struck when she saw a short film about it.................

Participants in the Naked Bike Ride travel past the lakeside at James Madison Park in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

I would not be comfortable being naked riding a bike in public - just would be embarrassing to me.

I guess it is something learned in our childhood that nudity is something to be hidden and only shared in intimate settings. Maybe based on our culture's association between nudity and sexuality?

I was in an eatery in Brussels, Belgium about this time of year in 2006 when the World Naked Bike Ride passed by.
I did not bother to rise from the table as others did.
