Had to wait until the first week in June to plant a garden while the 2 feet of snow we got in April (and six feet for the season) melted and drained away, pulling us out of last year's drought. Only to be followed by 5 - 6 weeks with no measurable rain. Only to be followed by too much rain for a couple of weeks. Only to be followed by the last 4 weeks with very little measurable rain.

The farmers around me in Jackson Co have little for crops to harvest. The one who rents our pasture is going to have to sell all his bred beef cows to pay off farm loans, then get another loan in the spring to start over. That's assuming we can pull out of the drought again over the winter.
