I went to print my ballot for the August primary, and now I see that our address in Mount Pleasant has been moved to a different district. Before, we had a Democratic representative and state senator, and now they are both Republicans. And unfortunately, our rep is now Robin Vos . The worst is that there are no Democrats running against Vos or the state senator (Van Wanggard). I'm also very disappointed to see that there is no Democrat running for Racine County Sheriff, so we'll be stuck with the same RWNJ again.

(17,103 posts)Said they could draw districts the way they did. No one knew which district they would be in so many did not know.
I was on both the City and County redistricting committees and we saw our work destroyed (not that it solved any problems anyway) when the ruling came down to take the repub versions.
Fortunately it was only a small correction as the Repubs did most of their damage to Wood County and Marshfield in 2011!
We had no choice but to take it as written

(8,655 posts)that it makes recruiting new candidates tough. Who wants to spend six months running that gauntlet to get 30% of the vote?
I live in one of those districts. This year, a brave soul stepped up, but we haven't had a Dem on the ballot for 2 elections because it's so extremely Trump country.
Of course, this was before the J6 hearings and RvW and everything else that happened in June, which seem to be turning sentiment against the GOP.

(8,655 posts)If you can write in a Dem on the Primary ballot, they will earn a spot on the November ballot without needing to be a write in.
If you don't trust your county clerk to give you decent advice, check with the Democratic Party in your county. They may know of someone trying to get on the ballot.
