(5,765 posts)ago I started trying to tell people around here in Wisconsin that they better keep wearing masks etc. I watched the steady decline in usage and over the last 3 weeks when I venture out to the grocery store (old people like me also call it the "grocer's" I see maybe 20% or so of people with a mask. We may well go down as the generation of humans who had the fairly easy means to greatly suppress mass illness and failed because a large percentage of people are determined to "have their freedom, go to football games etc." and "get back to normal" without regard to how much they play host/transmitter/mutation incubator for the virus even to the extent of loved ones dying or having long haul effects. They are too damned selfish and stupid to realize that although Omicron is "milder" relatively compared to the Delta variant or original strain there is absolutely no guarantee that the next one or subsequent ones will be "mild" also. These idiots pushing for the schools to open without masking/vaxxing are insane and obviously could care less about the life-long health complications we may be visiting upon our children. It is sheer madness unlike anything ever seen.
