Senator Jacque Remains Hospitalized with COVID-19

The entire article listed below with link for reference.

While details surrounding his condition have not been revealed, Senator Andre Jacque’s Office has confirmed that he is still being treated for COVID-19 in a hospital.

It is not known which hospital he is in, but he has been there for about a month.

He first reported catching the virus in early August, and about a week later, was placed on a ventilator.

In total, five of the eight members of Jacque’s family (Jacque, his wife, and their six children) have tested positive.

Senator Jacque (R-De Pere) was first taken to the hospital August 17. Last week, a spokesperson for the senator said Jacque was intubated and placed on a ventilator on August 23. The spokesperson said Jacque's condition was stable.

On August 30, Jacque's wife, Renee, emailed a statement to our Green Bay affiliate, WBAY-TV. It reads:

“My children and I are filled with humble gratitude for the remarkable, compassionate medical professionals that are working tirelessly to care for Andre in the hospital. Speaking on my family’s experience, 5 of our 8 family members tested positive for COVID-19. Of the 3 fully vaccinated people in our family, there was one breakthrough case of COVID-19 with mild symptoms. While vaccination is a personal choice, I ask that those individuals who are eligible and able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine please consider placing their trust in the medical professionals who recommend it. These professionals, and their peers, are those whom we have also placed our trust in to care for my husband. We are so thankful for the generous outpour of heartfelt well wishes and sincere prayers for Andre and for our family.”

Senator Jacque has been a vocal opponent of mask and vaccine mandates. It is unclear whether he has been vaccinated for COVID-19.

And no, it is *not* a personal choice. You do not have the right to choose to infect innocent people with a deadly contagious disease, no more than putting arsenic in someone's wedding punch is a personal choice.

In an email sent Monday evening to a reporter at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jacque said he and “some of my family” tested positive for COVID at the end of last week. Jacque, a father of six with a new baby, sought treatment on Monday at the hospital for pneumonia, but said he did not know when he contracted the virus.

“At the time I tested positive, I was largely asymptomatic with the exception of fatigue, which I had been feeling more of since the baby arrived,” Jacque wrote in the email, a copy of which Jacque’s communications director provided to The Daily Beast in lieu of a statement or comment.

“Fatigue has been a long-standing health concern of mine but otherwise I had good health readings when I tested positive. My office has been following all protocols and I personally reached out to the limited number of close contacts from last week in case I was positive at the time. I do not believe any of my staff or close contacts are experiencing symptoms. Unfortunately, I am now at the hospital with pneumonia, which I have had previously. I do not have further information to share at this point.”

11. He has been discharged.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Sen. Andre Jacque was discharged Tuesday after a five-week hospital stay that included being intubated and placed on a ventilator due to pneumonia after contracting COVID-19.

“Sen. Jacque is doing much better,” his spokesman Matt Tompach said in a statement Tuesday. “He is in touch with his staff on legislative and district issues, and he is reaching out to his friends and colleagues.”

Jacque, a Republican and one of the Legislature’s most conservative members who fought vaccine and mask mandates, was hospitalized Aug. 16 after testing positive for the virus and testifying at a packed Capitol hearing. Jacque did not wear a mask at the hearing.

Jacque was intubated and placed on a ventilator Aug. 23. His office did not say how long he was ventilated. Placing COVID-19 patients on a ventilator is often the last option of treatment when a patient is struggling to breathe. Some patients who are placed on ventilators do recover. Jacque is continuing respiratory and occupational therapy, Tompach said.

Last I heard he was discharged, but not staying at home, on a respirator and working with an occupational therapist.
