I'd hate to lose her in the state assembly, though. At one time, I thought Jen Shilling would give it a try, but when she left the Senate it sounded like she was determined to leave politics. Sen. Pfaff who used to work for Kind and has experience at the dept of Ag (under Obama IIRC) might also be a good candidate.

Either way, I hope it is someone who is in a "safe" seat. The GQP saw blood in the water last year. They will be spending a fortune to flip it.

2. Looks like it's going to be a Republican

Heard on local news this morning that no Democrats are interested in running. Hopefully that changes soon.

The seat's been open less than a week. It takes time and a few conversations between key players for a thoughtful and capable candidate to decide they want to step forward.
